The
Little House
The Little House sits at the edge of a small, quiet hamlet. It has been
lovingly restored by the British owners, Sonia & John, who live
in the farmhouse next door and are available if need be. John is an
artist and Sonia is a homoeopath and masseuse. They moved from rural
Devon to rural France in 2000 and manage a large organic vegetable garden
which provides an abundance of vegetables.
The house is on two levels. The living space upstairs includes lounge
area, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. This light and airy space
opens onto a wooden decked terrace - a private, enclosed area looking
onto a grassy slope with mixed woodland beyond. The terrace is furnished
with table and chairs, sun umbrella, herbs and climbing shrubs. There
is a barbecue close by. The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs. Linen
and towels are provided.
The house is heated by electric radiators and there is a log burning
stove in the living area. Electricity is charged per meter in cupboard
downstairs.
From the house there are beautiful views of the valley with La Montagne
Noire in the distance and pleasant walks in all directions. May - June
the valley hosts the annual nightingale song contest.
We ask you not to smoke inside the house please. Thankyou.

There are plenty of amenities nearby. The Lac de la
Bancalie is only ten minutes by car from The Little House: here you
can enjoy swimming, pedaloes, fishing, picnics and long walks along
the water's edge. Realmont, the nearest town, is a beautiful bastide
with a large market every Wednesday and a smaller one on Saturday. Realmont
has an excellent range of shops and supermarket (all of them open
on Sunday mornings) and several bars & restaurants. Albi, the
capital city of the Tarn, is only 20 minutes away - as is the picturesque
town of Castres with the river Agout at its centre.
