Cathar Sites
[close this page to return to The Little House website]

Our farmhouse La Braille and its gite are conveniently situated for visiting 'the land of heresy', which was the scene of Europe's first recorded genocide, in the thirteenth century, against the Cathars, Templars and Troubadours. You can visit the land of Black Madonnas, the Grail family, Mary Magdaleine and the Rose Line (Paris Meridian).

Take the time to absorb the echoes of that flowering of a noble culture in Europe, which embraced Christian, Gnostic, Jewish and Moslem ideals and which venerated the feminine.

We are within easy reach of: Carcassonne, a unique example of a fortified mediaeval city: Minerve, place of Cathar burning where 150 Parfaits were burned as heretics on the feast day of the Magdalene in 1210: Montsegur, Cathar citadel of last resistance: Rennes le Chateau, ancient visigoth capital of the region where you can visit the Abbe Sauniere's Villa Bethania, Tour Magdala and enigmatic church: Albi, Lastours, the Paris Meridian and many more sites.

If you are interested in visiting such places, either individually or as a small group, please email us or phone for more details. We would be happy to help you to organize these visits. We are always glad of an opportunity to share with our guests our love of the land, its tradition of independence and resistance, its history of spiritual and material riches.
